Education and Professional Background:

Evelyn Namara was appointed in the KCB Bank Uganda Board in October 2022. She is a technology enthusiast passionate about the financial technology space and creating ICT4D solutions that impact societies and communities. She has led multiple technology for development projects, including founding a fintech startup, Vouch, that works closely to distribute and disburse life-changing goods and services to beneficiaries. She is spirited about working on issues at the intersection of Technology and Public Policy.


She holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree from Makerere University, and a Diploma in Sustainable Business and Responsible Leadership from the Swedish Institute. She is an INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Programme alumni.


Among her past roles, she has worked as the Project Manager and Researcher for the Alliance for Affordable Internet, a global coalition working to reduce Internet access costs in low and middle-income countries through policy and regulatory reform. She has managed the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and Community Engagement at the Internet Society working closely with different stakeholders and project teams to deliver value to SIGs. She was the Country Director of Solar Sister in Uganda, instrumental in setting up the organizations’ earliest operations in-country, and was the Regional Manager of East Africa for Beyonic, among key roles.


Evelyn is involved in Internet Governance work and is a two-time Internet Society Ambassador to the IGFs in Brazil and Mexico, a two-time ICANN fellow, and an AfriSIG fellow. She is passionate about empowering women in ICT and has mentored and trained numerous women in technology as a trainer for AfNOG and AfCHIX.


Evelyn sits on the MTN Mobile Money Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director and serves on the Refactory Advisory Board.
